Kat's Patch Restaurant is a straightforward family-style American restaurant located right on N Main Street in Troutman, NC. This spot carries a familiar vibe for locals who appreciate hearty, no-frills meals that feel like a throwback to classic hometown diners. The building itself has an old-school charm—it’s not flashy or overly polished, but that’s part of the experience, creating a sense of comfort and history rather than trendy modernity.

The menu offers a solid lineup of traditional Southern-American plates and breakfast favorites, making it a reliable stop for everything from a filling breakfast burrito or biscuit and gravy to lunch and dinner staples like the BBQ Plate, Hamburger Steak, or Fish and Chips. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the kitchen shows care in preparing dishes that stick to familiar flavors and straightforward presentations. You can expect your basic sides — coleslaw, baked beans, onion rings, hush puppies — done well enough to satisfy that craving for comfort food.

Kat’s Patch tends to attract a mix of families, longtime locals, and anyone who values fast, friendly service paired with a clean and relaxed environment. The dining area feels cozy but busy, like a place where neighbors regularly meet for a quick bite or a longer meal during weekend mornings or lunchtime.

The staff here consistently comes across as welcoming and responsive, with a particular attentiveness to accommodating dietary requests without fuss. Whether you’re stopping in for a breakfast omelette, a lunch BBQ plate, or a classic cheeseburger with fries, the service is warm and unhurried, making the whole visit feel easy-going and familiar.

Good times to visit are weekday mornings for breakfast or early afternoons for lunch, especially if you want to avoid the occasional lunchtime rush. The place has a homely rhythm best appreciated by those who value simple, honest food in a setting where the regulars and staff share a comfortable rapport. Families with kids will find plenty of approachable options, and those just passing through Troutman looking for a wholesome, no-nonsense meal won’t leave hungry.

Best hometown family restaurant. Great service, food, and always clean. We ordered the Big burgers w/fries, delicious as always. We also ordered milkshakes for the first time we had a pineapple and banana shake, they were great.

I have fond memories of coming here as I was growing up with my mom and dad ( whom I miss greatly ,God rest his soul) and my brother . For living on Murdock rd. ,born and raised so to speak was not very far to come. Over the years the place has changed some but the food is still good this morning the staff was very friendly and top notch service I received!

This place is a gem and a walk back in time. Ladies at the counter are super sweet and the food is just fine and very inexpensive. No wonder it’s so popular w the locals. So many comments about cleanliness in th reviews but I do t see what they are complaining about. It’s an old place but seems to be doing great. Would happily return if passing by again.

Pretty decent prices for good food with speedy service. Got a BBQ plate and it was fantastic. Highly recommend you get some onion rings.

I have some dietary restrictions and requested alterations to a meal, and they are more than happy to provide what I requested, with a smile, and a very decent price. The person taking orders knows the menu, knows the ingredients and was able to answer questions that I had without a second thought. (I asked if they could do frozen coffee sugar-free and she was able to tell me exactly what was in the mix they used and that she could not offer it sugar-free, which was slightly disappointing but I was very happy she was able to answer my question and knew exactly what I was looking for.) Their prices for their meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner options are very good and their portions are good sized. You will not leave hungry, that's for sure.

This place is the best. They custom made a catfish biscuit for me and it was delicious. A must try for catfish lovers. Thank you for your willingness to create the best breakfast I've had in awhile.
